Tonight the Wildcats are facing the Gamecocks, who's offense still struggles to find that pace that will lead them to victory. Gamecocks only tool for success in this game will be their defense, which hasn't performed very well in the last 2 games against Tennessee and Mississippi State. Kentucky has shown they are no longer the struggling road team and can thrive in hostile territory (see Kansas W). This spread being at -11.0 is probably a reaction to the midweek game against the Commodores last week, in which UK only won by 7. They are desperately trying to stay in front of the Padres. Cubs are out but have still been having some wins, even if it was a sweep against the Pirates. Still, they are on a 6 game win streak but those wins were not quality wins, half of them were only by 1 run. I'm taking Reds ML only because of the recent history but I think they will put down the Cubs with ease. Cubs have Justin Steele start today, his 4th for the season, while Reds have Sonny Gray who has been performing much better at the right time for the Reds. Reds ML is juiced at -155. F5 -0.5 is 105. New England Patriots Vs New York Giants One of the most hated teams in the NFL, Patriots have been rolling through the NFL preseason and they aren't stopping Sunday. I bet against them with Washington and learned my lesson. And what a lesson it was. Then beating, no...demolishing, the Eagles 35-0, sorry Sean, was dominant and, I think, the Patriots wanting the NFL to know they are here and every minute counts. They are able to move the ball down the field, apparently without their starters, and between Cam and Mac there is no fear. Giants' offensive line is...bad...real bad...and the Patriots embarrassed the Eagles, who are considerably better. "What the fuck are you saying JP?" DEFENSE WINS GAMES. Rays/Orioles I don't care that the Orioles beat the Angels twice. They still have the worst pitching crew. These teams matched up 8/16-8/19 and the Rays lit them up, 34 runs to 8. That being said, Rays bats are not that great, .239. Brandon Lowe had 3 home runs during that last match up, he's got 30 total. Rays have Shane McClanahan pitching which will play right into stomping out these fluffed Orioles. He threw for 12 innings with 16 strike outs. I'm not putting anymore effort into looking at the Orioles, they will return to their losing ways tonight. Reds/Marlins Reds swept the Marlins last weekend. Reds swept the Marlins last weekend. Detroit Tigers (60-66), third in the AL Central St. Louis Cardinals (63-60), third in the NL Central In the last 10 games the Cardinals are 6-4 with a 2.66 batting average and 2.67 ERA, out scoring opponents by 15 runs. On the other hand, Tigers are 4-6 with a .227 batting average and 4.60 ERA, being outscored by 19 runs. Cards are 34-29 at home with Tyler O'Neill's slugging percentage at .509, this includes 40 extra base hits and 21 home runs. Also, Arenado has a .495 slugging percentage and 58 extra bases. Tigers are 27-36 on the road with Baddoo leading the team at .467. Lets look at pitchers, Casey Mize is 6-6, has a 3.69 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 98 strikeouts. Jack Flaherty is 9-1, has an ERA of 2.68, .95 WHIP and 80 strikeouts. Tigers won in the last match up, 6-2. Gant took his sixth loss for St. Louis. Schoop went 2/4 with a double, home run and 3 RBI's for Detroit and Manning earned his first victory. Cardinals, of course, are the heavy favorites here coming in at -220 (Draft Kings) could be a great building block for a parlay, a lot of games with value out there today. Texas Rangers (43-80) @ Boston Red Sox (70-55) Boston coming out as a heavy favorite (-335 on DK). Let's look at Pitchers. We've got Allard on the mound for the Rangers with a 4.88 ERA, WHIP of 1.19, 79 strikeouts and 94 hits. Allard has pitched 94 innings. Eovaldi is pitching for the Red Sox. His ERA is 3.91, WHIP is 1.20, 140 strikeouts and 140 hits in 138 innings pitched. Examining the batting leaders for both teams, we have Garcia for the Rangers with 27 HR's, .248 average and 71 RBI's vs. Boston's Devers' 29 HR's, .275 average and 89 RBI's. Best batting average goes to Boston's Bogaerts with a .308 and .377 on base percentage while Rangers Kiner-Falefa trails with a .263 average and .298 on base percentage. Of course, Garcia and Devers both lead their teams respectively for Runs Batted In. Anyways, Rangers away record is 15-46 while Boston's home record is 38-25 BUT Rangers underdog performance is 47-56 while Red Sox' favorite record is 29-43. All of that being said, I still think we take the Red Sox here but due to the juice, many will be looking to parlay them. BE CAREFUL with this slate today if that is the route you want to take. I have been putting together 4 teamer round robins. Swept with all combos last night (11) and wanted to share what is going on today. My method for the round robin, I split it down until the total amount of bets equals 1u. I am not expert but the results have been working out, tail or fade, so it's up to you. The picks: Red Sox/Rangers - Dunning starts for Rangers with a 4.06 ERA and their bullpen ERA is 4.71. Sale starts for Red Sox with a 3.60 ERA and the bullpen comes in at 4.30. Red Sox lead Rangers in runs scored per game by 1.21 and hits per game by 1.36 when looking at the differences. Just a ML bet here for the Red Sox, if they get into Rangers bullpen a live bet of the spread may be worth watching. Tigers/Blue Jays - R. Ray comes in for Toronto with a 2.88 ERA, bullpen at a 3.98, while Detroit has Alexander pitching with a 4.57 ERA and the bullpen of 4.55. Toronto's runs scored per game is just above Detroit's by 0.87 and about the same for hits per game as well. ML again for the Blue Jays, haven't looked at F5 ML for odds but with these pitchers, there may be better value there especially when looking at a -0.5 F5 spread. Look it up! Mariners/Astros - Houston's McCullers' leads Seattles Kikuchi ERA by 0.60, 3.22 v 3.82. Runs scored per game, Houston comes in at 5.31 with Seattle at a 4.20. And hits per game, 9.11 for Houston vs Seattle's 7.25. Astros ML due to starting pitchers for both teams. Phillies/Padres - Freakin Phillies...yes I'm still mad from yesterday. Team rankings: Padres 5.0, Phillies 3.9. Who cares. Starting pitchers? Phillies Matt Moore storms in with an ERA of 6.07 vs Padres Blake Snell's 4.80. This is another one where you may want to weight out that F5 vs full game ML for the Padres. Fellas, this is just for fun. Do your homework and bet responsibly. Who's gonna win it all? With Ohtani being the obvious favorite, a lot of us are looking down the path at Joey Gallo as well. The value on Gallo cannot go overlooked. He has made it to every final since 2015, since the format change, winning four of the five home run derbies. Gallo will beat Story, then he needs to get by either Matt Olson or Tray Mancini to reach the finals, both of which he has beat this season looking at total home runs and other factors. I, personally, will be laying a small amount on Gallo. What are your thoughts? Let us know.
